kulah khud

19th c. Kulah Khud helmet from India
Most likely made in Central India. Most of the silver and gold koftgari has worn off with age, but the chiselled fluting still makes it an attractive piece. For some reason, the rivets were replaced with modern nuts and screws. Someone probably decided to make a lamp out of it and mid way through changed their mind. Another possibility is that the plume holders are replacements, but replaced early 20th c.
